Tigerlily is Australia's beloved swimwear label, featuring gorgeous bohemian designs. I was so excited when they contacted us in March regarding a collaboration to feature Au Revoir Les Filles jewellery in their upcoming campaign. I popped into their gorgeous office to have a chat with the girls. The decor is beautiful, with every nook and corner lovingly adorned with treasures collected from their travels.
Q&A WITH AMELIA MATHER, THE CREATIVE DIRECTOR OF TIGERLILY ON HER INSPIRATIONS BEHIND THE COLLECTION AND HER FAVOURITE PIECE OF JEWELLERY.
For the new Tigerlily collection, where did you draw inspiration from?
Our latest collection was inspired from the term ‘Bobo’ which stands for Bourgeois Bohemian, a counter culture that has emerged combining both the free spirited vibes of the beatniks and hippies but with the motivation and drive of the bourgeoisie or ‘middle class’. We really felt this resonated with Tigerlily, we are so much more than another ‘Boho’ brand and really wanted to present that through our latest collection. We drew on influences from Iranian carpets, subtle ikats and French paisley-florals to interpret a more sophisticated print aesthetic on soft tailored trousers, blouses and embroidered jackets.
How does Au Revoir Les Filles fit in with the mood of your collection?
We came across your designs on social media and loved the old world French vibe. The French are the epitome of Bobo, which is where we came across the term.
How does jewellery make you feel, and tell us about a favourite piece of jewellery you own?
I love how jewellery makes an outfit! I’ll often pull an outfit together based around my chosen jewels. I wear mostly antique Indian pieces and adore little cheap things I have picked up on my travels… Oh and my most cherished piece is my engagement ring from my husband Tommy, it’s an old 1940s rose gold, sapphire & diamond ring he found in England. It's classic and looks great with my favourite Turkmen cuff.
